God has destined us to soar to great heights just like eagles. Yet for many believers, they are pecking around in life like chickens. As a matter of fact, I have met many eagle believers who thought they were chickens. Listen to this modern day parable and be encouraged to take your place as an Eagle Christian!

Transformation! That is the word that continues to go over and over in my spirit daily. 2010 is a year of transformation. I hope for you 2010 will be a year of transformation too.
Let me explain with a story. There was a farmer who discovered an eagle’s egg and placed it under one of his chickens to see if it would hatch. Sure enough the day came and the young eagle hatched and began its new life in a chicken yard. He pecked at the ground and found worms and bugs yet he never felt right. As he grew, the young eagle knew there was something about him that was different from the other chickens in the yard. Deep inside he could feel he was not like them. When storms came the other chickens would run fearfully for cover yet the eagle would imagine himself soaring in the clouds. On one such occasion a storm blew in and all the chickens scurried in fear yet the eagle wasn’t scarred. He wanted to soar! As he looked up longing to fly he saw a majestic looking bird high above soaring and he let out an incredible piercing sound that seemed to say to the young eagle “come fly with me.” In that instant he knew he had to get out of that chicken yard. Right at that moment a strong wind blew through and the eagle lifted his wings and began to flap. To his amazement he began to fly high above the chicken yard and soared up into the clouds and was never seen by the chickens again.
I wanted to share the story of an eagle living in a chicken yard because I think many believers have felt like an eagle in a chicken yard. I know I have. It’s like you know there is so much more within you that you are not experiencing and expressing right at that moment. You have this strong urge to break free and to do it. But you also know you will have to take risk and leave certain things behind that accompany chicken living. You might have to make difficult decisions, endure loneliness, perhaps even be judged or misunderstood. Here is what you must know; ALL EAGLES ARE UNCOMFORTABLE LIVING IN CHICKEN YARDS! When you are living in a place that keeps you from being what you were created to be, you will always be unsatisfied and unfulfilled. If you have thoughts like:
Why do I have to think different from everyone else?
Why can’t I just be normal?
Why do I feel this way?
The answer is easy; you are not a chicken, you are an EAGLE! You will never feel comfortable in that chicken yard because you were made to soar. You were made for something bigger, more powerful, and more fulfilling! I want to encourage you to fan the flame of passion and purpose that is within you. Break free from chicken living! Aim high for the life God created you to have. YOU ARE AN EAGLE!
